Presentation of the book by Orietta Rossi Pinelli published by Einaudi

The publication reconstructs the theoretical positions of the main protagonists of the artistic, political and cultural debate on the methods and objectives of restoration in Italy, from the Athens Charter of 1931 to the post-war period, to digital. That famous document, which arose from the need to find widely acceptable models in restoration methods, was intended to respond to the excessive individualisation of the procedures governing the sector. The creation of the Central Institute for Restoration headed by Cesare Brandi in 1939 was a decisive turning point in that direction.

The presentation of the book at the JRC is a source of pride and an opportunity to reflect on our discipline together with the conservative generation of tomorrow.

Restorers, professionals from conservation disciplines, students and faculty in conservation and restoration, and faculty are invited to take part in the debate.
