The JRC La Venaria Reale in Genoa to start the study and monitoring of Peter Paul Rubens’ ‘Circumcision’, built in 1605 for the high altar of the Church of Jesus.
This morning, the monumental painting (492 × 277 cm) was temporarily moved to allow an interdisciplinary team of the Centre to start conservative checks and install the instrumentation for microclimatic monitoring of the niche that houses it.
The activities provide for the control of temperature and relative humidity through data loggers and periodic photogrammetric acquisitions of the surface of the canvas, with the aim of collecting data useful for defining the restoration project, supported by the Liguria Region.
