Abstract of the intervention:
Restoration
The chandelier of the Sala degli Scudieri (Stupinigi's Hunting Palace) has been dismantled in order to carry out a diversified cleaning for each material.
As regards the iron structure, the results of the cleaning dowels revealed extensive original gilding in a fairly good state of conservation. For this reason, it was decided to remove porporine using acetone swabs. A protective was subsequently applied.
The bronze candle holders and plates were cleaned by immersion in an acidic solution and then coated with a protective substance.
The glass pendants were cleaned by immersion as well as the beads strands. The elements were dried under an IR lamp. The electrical system was then restored with gold and brown wires to make their presence less chromatically perceptible. The wooden candles were stripped and repainted with water-based acrylic colours of the same hue. For one of the glass saucers a copy in epoxy resin was made using a silicone mold, however it was decided not to integrate all the missing saucers because they are not present in the historical photos.
Finally, all the glass parts were reassembled.
