Facilitated description
The mural paintings by Carlo Innocenzo Carloni in the Chapel of Sant'Antonio Abate in the Cathedral of Monza are from about 1745.
Restorer Pinin Brambilla Barcilon restored the paintings in 1989-1990.
The restorer started with cleaning tests (cleaning the surface of the work of art from dirt deposited over time).
It consolidated (make the surfaces more stable) the parts of the fresco and filled in the gaps (missing parts).
The restorer has carried out the pictorial retouching with watercolors.
It has cleaned and consolidated (make the surfaces more stable) the plasterings (a white layer of plaster and glue that stretches inside a lack and that forms a smooth and uniform base on which to paint the integrations) golden.
The restorer cleaned the chapel's marble altar with steam.
