Facilitated description:

The walnut table was made in 1630.
The table is kept at the Reggia di Venaria.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the table in 2013.
The restorers placed the table in an anoxic chamber, a chamber without oxygen for which it serves to eliminate insects that eat wood.
Then they cleaned the table and removed the dirt.
They spread a product against insects that eat wood.
Finally they put a layer of wax all over the table to protect it from the sun's rays and dust.

Abstract of the intervention:

The table, the work of a Piedmontese minusiere, is owned by the Museo Civico d'Arte Antica di Torino - Palazzo Madama (Turin Museums Foundation). It has been granted on loan to the Reggia di Venaria for the exhibition during the visit.

Restoration

The table was initially subjected to anoxic disinfestation for a period of three weeks. The surface cleaning of the work was carried out using an aqueous method. It was necessary to consolidate the parts degraded by the massive attack of xylophagous insects by brush impregnation. Finally, a waxy protective was applied, then pigmented to obtain a more homogeneous surface from the chromatic point of view. Finally, a polishing was carried out.
