Facilitated description:
The double body is a wooden cabinet formed by a chest of drawers and at the top by a wardrobe with a mirrored door.
The double body is kept at the Civic Museum of Ancient Art in Turin (Palazzo Madama).
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the furniture in 2017.
Scientists at the Venaria Center did some analysis to see the interior parts of the furniture and understand how it was built.
The restorers placed the furniture in an anoxic chamber, an oxygen-free chamber used to eliminate wood-eating insects.
They cleaned the furniture of the dust.
Abstract of the intervention:
The restoration of the double body of Turin area, was performed as part of the restorations for the exhibition Genius and mastery. Furniture and cabinetmakers at the Savoy court between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries held at the Reggia di Venaria (17 March - 15 July 2018).
