Facilitated description:

The pyramid is a small sculpture in white and green marble.
The pyramid was built to commemorate the death of Augusto Cavour during the First Italian War of Independence (1848).
The pyramid was built in 1858.
The pyramid is preserved at Castello Cavour in Santena.
The restorers of the La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre restored the pyramid in 2014-2016.
The restorers cleaned the sculpture with brushes and vacuum cleaners to remove dust.
Then they did a cleaning with chemicals and eliminated the yellowed substance that covered the surface.
They put a protective substance on the green marble.
They repaired with putty (plaster and glue) the broken part at the top.
They went over the colorless writing with watercolors.
They cleaned the iron bullet.
They covered the pellet with a product to protect it from contact with air.

Abstract of the intervention:

Restoration

The intervention on the commemorative pyramid is part of the restoration of the furnishings of the bedroom and study of Cavour of the Castle of Santena on the occasion of the refurbishment of the entire residence.
The restoration of the stone sculpture began with cleaning with brushes and vacuum cleaners to eliminate inconsistent deposits, followed by a chemical cleaning. The observation of the artifact with UV light has made it possible to recognize the presence of a yellowed substance, eliminated during the present restoration. On the green marble of the base has been laid a protective to occulate the abrasions due to a previous restoration.
The fracture of the summit part was putty, while the old groutings were replaced. The pictorial film of the engraved writings was consolidated and the missing parts were taken with watercolor.
The iron bullet was treated with an oxidation converter and protected with acrylic resin.
