24 March 2026

The Restoration Conservation Centre ‘La Venaria Reale’ has signed an agreement with theCentral Institute for Intangible Heritage (ICPI) for the preservation and enhancement of intangible and demoethnoanthropological cultural heritage.

The agreement activates a synergy between complementary competences: on the one hand, the activities of documentation, inventory and enhancement of intangible heritage, central areas of the ICPI mission; on the other hand, the activities of research, advanced training and education in conservation and restoration developed by the JRC. This integration opens up new perspectives for the protection and transmission of living cultural expressions.

The collaboration covers a wide range of areas of the demoethnoanthropological heritage: from oral traditions to traditional music and performing arts, from ritual and festive practices to knowledge related to food and gastronomic customs, up to traditional techniques of production, commercial and artistic activities and practices reminiscent of historical events.

On the methodological level, the shared projects will adopt an interdisciplinary and synergistic approach, capable of integrating historical, technical-scientific, anthropological and ethnographic perspectives. Particular attention will be paid to the direct involvement of heritage communities, recognized as central actors in the processes of identification, description, conservation and intergenerational transmission of cultural practices.

The Convention lays the foundations for a progressive development of collaboration, through the activation of specific initiatives and projects, with the aim of building over time a structured programme of research, training, education and promotion on a national and international scale.
