The research activities conducted at the Centro draw on the resources of all departments, which collaborate in study, analysis and experimentation projects in each of the different fields of conservative restoration. A wide range of projects have been created, from research into conservation history and restoration history, to restoration techniques, materials and the application and development of innovative diagnostic and conservation techniques.

Studies and research projects have also been developed in the field of individual restoration works, and are the subject of in-depth analysis in the university courses, frequently with the participation of degree students writing theses. The various lines of research are also used in research and development activities with local companies.

The lines of research and strategic contexts identified are also the basis for across-the-board, long-term plans, partnerships and collaborations with university and research institutes both at national and international level.
